'Paintings have a life of their own which
derives from the painters soul.' (Vincent Van Gogh)
I used to paint a lot when I was younger. I chose the arts because there was a sense of release in being able to communicate the inside out, and receive from the depths of other creators in the world. I also found within it a feeling of salvation and liberation from anything unkind or ungodly within.
Alongside a loss of hope to connect and feel with others, I lost this feeling toward creation too.
In wanting to avoid any unkindness I was causing to others and myself in distress, I returned to paint to cope. In expression I found again relief and a making sense of what is inside. Also a necessity to be present just in that moment and not beyond.
I painted just as it came with no planning or forethought, and afterwards found hope.
I would like to do this with others, to help find this light for them too.
